New Naish Boards

Now, spring has really come to Denmark and so has the new 2012 Naish SUP boards. This weekend I picked up the first piece of my 2012 board quiver. Along with my coach I went to pick up the Naish MC 14 race board and I was completely shocked when i unboxed the board!

The MC 14 features the same designs as the Naish Javelin, but has a much different construction. The board has no core and is made almost entirely from carbon fiber. The carbon allows it to be hollow inside, which means this board weighs significantly less than the Javelin. At only 9 kg I am sure the MC 14 will carry speed like a rocket and prove to be a dangerous race board at races all over the world! I can’t wait to try it out and get racing; First stop La Torche, France in 2 weeks

I also picked up a new Naish 10'6'' for my dad. Watch out! He is gonna be on fire this summer

The New Clubhouse

Yesterday the opening ceremony for the new surf club house in Klitmøller took place. The weather was beautiful and many people showed up to see the new building and be a part of the positive energy.

The project has been underway for a long time. Now the house is finally here with nice hot showers and pingpong tables The NASA surf club will be sharing the house with the local ornithology association and we are all looking forward to having fun in the new house!

Winter SUP Training: Video

I guess when you are having fun you just don’t notice how fast time flies by. Another winter has come to pass, and for me the past 3 months have been packed with lots of action and fun!

Training in the massive winter waves somewhere in Macaronesia

After finishing a high school exam in December and spending Christmas with my family in Denmark, I left the frigid Danish winter behind and made my way to a small island in Macaronesia for some winter SUP training. We have been coming to Macaronesia for the past 8 winters and once again we were greeted by consistent and solid Atlantic Ocean swells. It was really nice to see all our friends on the island again and score super fun waves without frigid subzero temperatures

After almost 6 weeks on “Danger Island” I returned home to Denmark to finish my school. During my stay I got lots of good training in solid righthand pointbreaks and I was on the water nearly every day either paddling or surfing. I was really stoked and made my way back to Denmark with a big smile on my face. Now I have been back in “Viking Land” a few weeks and condtions have allowed for lots of action on the water

Now I am focused on training for the upcoming contest season. In April I will be competing in the European leg of the SUP World Tour in La Torche. I can’t wait to get the season started and to see you all on the water

“Los Lovers” on Danger Island

Back in January, our good friends and Naish team-mates Stephane Etienne and Nicole Boronat “Los Lovers” from the Canary Islands came to visit us on Danger Island. My family and I have known Stephane and Nicole for a few years and we have many friends in common all over the world. It was really nice to see both of them and share some magic SUP sessions on the island!

The Road to Danger Island

After celebrating Christmas and New Year’s with my family and friends in Denmark, my dad and I packed the good old Ford Escort with boards, paddles, wetsuits and several cases of Red Bull and set out on a long roadtrip. Destination: Danger Island.

It was a long drive down through Europe, but luckily I had just gotten my driver’s license, so my dad and I could take turns driving down the long neverending European highways. The Red Bulls and the shrieking car radio kepts us awake and we made really good progress. Hamburg, Bruxelles, Paris and Bordeaux we all passed within the first 30 hours. Next stop was the Coté de Basque, which my dad really loves! I got a nice afternoon surf session and by coincidence met up with my Naish SUP teammate Xabi Lafitte. A good way to mark our halfway down through Europe

After surfing with Xabi and enjoying the nice atmosphere in the French part of the Basque country, we hit the road again. Over night we made it all the way across the Spanish peninsula and into Portugal. Mike sleeping in the back while I drove. Next morning we checked out the famous surfspot were Garrett Mcnamara in 2011 rode a crazy 90-foot wave. There were no waves this day, but the area was super beautiful! Mike and I enjoyed wearing only shorts in T-shirts again and not having to wear skijackets and gloves

Later the same day we drove south through Portugal and checked out the famous surfspot Supertubos. The waves were small, but I managed to get 8 hours of surfing on my SUP board. It felt soo good not having to wear a 6 mm wetsut with hood, gloves and boots! Mike took out my 9’8” Naish SUP gun and used it for a surfboard. We had a blast and got quite sunburned Later, Mike drove us further south through Portugal, while I slept in the back of the car. Surf all day, Drive all night!

Next morning we woke up, drove the car onto a big ferry and readied ourselves for all the adventures waiting for us on Danger Island! Though we both agreed, that our roadtrip through Europe had been a quite cool adventure in itself

Hey guys and girls !

The activity on my website has been a bit slow the last month. Exam projects, website server breakdowns and hacker attacks have left me unable to keep you updated on all the action going on. The website is back online now and I can’t wait to share my recent adventures and surf sessions with you guys! 2012 is going to be a big year for me with many SUP competitions on the Race and SUP-surf world tours all over the globe! Right now I am back on Danger Island where I am gearing up for this big season. I appreciate everyone’s support and I hope you will all be with me as we head out on new adventures. Stay tuned

Christmas Surf!

Finally, Christmas holiday is over us. It’s been a super hectic month for me in Denmark so far, since I have been focused on writing my final high school exam report. This meant many sleepless nights, alone with cans of Red Bull as my only company. But now it’s over, it’s holiday and time for some Christmas surf

On the morning of Christmas Eve more than 20 surfers from all around Cold Hawaii and Klitmøller met up in Nr. Vorupør to share some waves and have a blast. Dress code: Nissehuer / Christmas hats. Guys were chanting Christmas carrols out on the water and enjoying some frigid waves before heading home to their families to celebrate the holidays. Even Santa Claus made a short appearance on a surfboard Super fun day with some great friends !

Nomad-a Crew in DK

Back in October, just as I made my way home to Denmark after my trips to California and Norway, I met up with a really cool guy from Ecuador called Raúl Cabrera. Him and his Nomad-a crew were doing a world wide traveling expedition to meet different surfers and snowboarders all around the globe and hear their stories. The crew’s plan was to make a cool documentary film about Raúl’s travels and him meeting these characters, and to show how these boardriders love their passion in different conditions all over the world. I was super stoked and honored when Raúl asked me to be a part of his project

The crew was super cool and always ready for some fun on the water! They were surrounded by a positive spirit and just going surfing with them was a great pleasure. Together we scored some awesome waves on the coast of Cold Hawaii and they got to feel the frigid temperatures of the North Sea.

Hurricane Session on the Cold Coast

Today will be a day, that not soon will be forgotten. When we looked at the weather charts a week ago we saw it coming, but we never anticpated a storm of this magnitude! The storm peaked in the middle of the afternoon with gusts of 38 meters per second measured in Hanstholm, which above hurricane force. We grouped up at our place in Klitmøller and set out on a search mission to get the best of this crazy storm

We ended up driving north and taking a plunge just as the storm was at its peak. Peter, Oliver and myself suited up and jumped into the oceanic cauldron of chaos with our surfboards. The conditions were insane! We caught a few good ones and left just as the gusts started ripping roofs of nearby houses. What a day

Danish SUP Surf Champion

Last weekend the first ever Danish stand up paddle surf Championships took place in Cold Hawaii. After having the event postponed 2 times, everyone was itching to get on the water and surf their best. The conditions were super fun and the atmosphere on the beach was unreal! It was cool to see so many faces from all over Denmark brave the chilly conditions and meet for a good day on the beach.

Stoked to be in the final with such awesome competitors !

To win the first ever Danish SUP Surf Championship was huge ! A great feeling, but more than winning, I was happy to see so many people show up on the beach to compete and cheer their friends on. That’s what stand up paddling and surfing is all about; Good times with your friends

First ever Danish SUP Championship is GO !

It is official ! The wave-forecast looks promissing for the weekend and the green light has been given by contest director Lars Petersen to run the first ever Danish SUP Wave Championship in Cold Hawaii.

A medium sized southwest swell will hit Klitmøller late Friday and give us contestable waves early Saturday morning. Today competitors from all over Denmark will be making their way to Klitmøller and prepare themselves for a possible early start tomorrow morning. The first skipper meeting will be beachfront in Nr. Vorupør Saturday morning at 8:00 AM. We will asses the conditions then and be on hold for a possible 8:30 AM start.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for the swell to stick around long enough for an epic weekend of competition and fun ! See you on the beach
