It’s amazing how fast time flies by. You never notice it when you are caught up in the excitement of the moment, but suddenly you wake up to a new sense of reality, and whoops, how did those 2 months just pass by ??
This season has been so much fun. Something has always been going on, whether it was chasing waves or just hanging around with the crew, it was all good times! Last week we had some serious rain, that caused some heavy erosion on the island. The roads out of the village were closed by landslides and turned into brown rivers, so we spent 3 days just chilling at our place. The mudslides were massive and during these rainy days it was quite common to hear and see rocks and boulders come flying down the mountain. Anxiety filled the atmosphere in the village. People were frigthened by the falling rocks and everyone’s eyes were glued towards the big mountain wall.
Reflecting back at the past 8 weeks I can only say one thing, WOW !! Did all these many things take place in this short, but actually long stretch of time ? The waves were not everything, they were merely what drove us. All the laughs and funny incidents happened along the way, as we were searching and waiting for the right wave conditions.

We seek the magic of the waves, but in doing so we also find the meaning of good times with friends and family - maybe this is the magic of the waves ?
Now it is time for Peter and I to go back to Denmark and battle the remaing part of winter. We are looking forward to seeing everybody back home, but at the same time we will miss all the nice people here on Danger Island; our second home.
Coach Mike will be hanging around here for the rest of the season with Tim “Tormenter” Dye and friends. Watch out they will be on the roll !
See ya in the water !
